Microneedling at home using 0.5mm? Thoughts?

WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?

Microneedling is the process of puncturing the skin with microchannels, in order to encourage the skin to renew and regenerate. It’s also known as collagen induction therapy using very fine sterile needles. Depending on the needle size, the down time can range from a few hours to a week. For about 4 years now I have done at home microneedling and only recently have done professional microneedling sessions which I’ll leave for another post. Today’s focus is my review on 0.5mm needles by the Banish Skincare line!

BENEFITS OF MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling can offer so many benefits!  No matter what type of skin tone you have, microneedling offers increased cell turnover and natural skin renewal, and therefore healthier and plumper looking skin. Microneedling also helps with:

  •  Increased production absorption

  • Increased collagen production

  • Decreases wrinkles and fine lines

  • Prevents the formation of dark spots

  • Reduces acne scars

  • Reduces hyper pigmentation and dark marks

 WHY THE BANISHER 2.0?

There were so many on the market so I tried cheap ones I found on Amazon/Ebay. Huge mistake!!! I ruined my skin barrier and found out on closer inspection that these needles were bent.

I finally came across Banish and they had so many incredible reviews that I bit the bullet and gave it a go. Their original roller helped my hyperpigmentation and shallow scars so much and then came their Banisher 2.0 which looks like a stamp with fine needles.

Since the needles are flat and you push it down onto your skin, there’s less chances of track marks as compared to a roller.  Each of the needles on the Banisher 2.0 are 24k gold plated titanium meaning it’s super strong, and also offers antibacterial properties

 How does it feel?

Does not hurt at all!!! It feels a little bit like a tiny prick on the bonier parts of your face, such as around the forehead, but for the most part I had zero pain. It might take some time getting used to if you’ve never tried it before but after a couple of go’s you’ll be right as rain. I mean, I built my pain tolerance as years have gone by. I’ve successfully done microneedling in a clinic without numbing cream using up to 2.5mm needles! Btw, this actually better to go without numbing cream to get pin point bleeding.

My results?

Overall, my hyperpigmentation improved by 90% and my overall complexion is a lot more even. My cheeks especially are so much more plump! My deep pitted scarring are still there, however the colour of them are not as dark making the scar itself look less deep. Results take 4-6 weeks to show but the best results was at 6 months.
